Rubric for Collaborative Group Work
This rubric that can serve as a guide to evaluate the contributions of
your team members to the weekly journal assignments. At the end of
the semester you will give a grade to each team member that will count
10% of their grade for the course.
A = High

The student initiates the development
of the group process including identifying roles and accepting responsibility
for fulfilling assigned roles within the group.

The student invites contributions
from others.

The student acknowledges the statements
of others in a way that builds a consecutive interchange between
participants.

When disagreeing, the student does
it respectfully.

The student makes sure that all
relevant points of view are heard.

The student is aware of cultural
differences in social interactions and behaves in an appropriate fashion.

When conflicts arise, the student
attempts to resolve them.
-
Decision making is shared; there
is lots of evidence of teaming and collaboration.

Quality of written contributions
is excellent, showing evidence of thorough research, reflection, and responsiveness
to feedback.

Group deadlines for posting on the
message board, sharing drafts, and providing feedback are consistently
met.

The student consistently attends
scheduled chat sessions to discuss homework assignments.

The student forewarns other group
members in advance if group deadlines or obligations can not be met.
B = between High and Medium - meets all of the
criteria for Medium, and at least half of the criteria for High
C = Medium

The student participates in the
development of the group process when initiated by others.

The student attends to the discussion
but doesn't participate very much.

The student's contributions do not
detract from the group's purpose or goals.

The student responds to solicitation
of opinions or ideas but doesn't volunteer them.

is mediocre, inconsistently showing evidence of thorough research, reflection,
and responsiveness to feedback.

message board, sharing drafts, and providing feedback are inconsistently
met.

The student inconsistently attends

The student inconsistentlly forewarns
other group members in advance if group deadlines or obligations can not

D = between Medium and Low - meets fewer than half
of the criteria for Medium
F = Low

distracting statements.

The student monopolizes the conversations.

The student makes a personal attack.

The student is uninvolved in the
discussion, even when directly asked for an opinion.

The student rarely or never attends
